astronaut-using-a-metal-detector-on-the-moon

 I have seen that MDer before , I can tell by the gold foil that's
MUD PUPPY , no doubt

Is this video for real?!?

Dirt Dick, I cleaned your thread title.

Thanks SeaBee,
They changed format on tapatalk & my laptop has issues like always

Not for sure,
But, I think Nasa did use detectors, What kind ?
Whom was the lucky astronaut that can lay claim
to be the first person to detect the moon?
Looking for meteorites, or cheese curds

A deeper google question, how often do meteors hit the moon?
It sure wouldn't be like a typical hail storm in Texas

Then again some will say, WE NEVER BEEN TO THE MOON :tinfoilhat:

... or a special one built by NASA ?
Is this video for real?!?

I asked around my work but no one was aware of an Apollo mission that used a MD. As far as I know, there were no other countries with manned landings on the moon either. So I'm leaning towards someones DIY video...

The smithsonian in Washington DC has a nice collection of digging tools used by the astronauts to collect various specimens. I recall making jokes about copying the scoops for metal detecting...

The bigger question is: What were they expecting to find? :?:

This of course! :jawdrop: Seriously though the footage appears to be fake, at least to me. Video quality was much poorer in the 70's, this looks too clear and has vivid color. None of the dust gets disturbed while walking heavily, which would be more likely in a low gravity environment. I may be wrong but this is probably someone in a sandbox pretending to be on the "Apollo 18" mission. :dontthinkso:

Mercury dimes? 😜

Yes, mercury dimes to be used in the vending machines filled with Mars Bars.

But seriously, they were looking for land mines. Buried there by those crazy Russkies when they were still part of the USSR.

And I'm sure that Jeff Sessions was invloved.

But really seriously, I'd like to know more about that machine.
