What is a block C doing in Indiana?

My son and I received permission to detect a few new sites over the weekend. 1/2 mile off the road we found one of the house sites

Yes thats half of a US buckle. We are in Indiana. I did research and found out the gentleman that lived there was in 5 major battles during the civil war. He was actually wounded on July 1St and taken prisoner and on July 3rd he escaped.

Finding out that history makes it even better. I'd definitely be covering that area with a comb. Be nice to get a picture of that veteran and make a display with all your finds.

I have never thought about doing something like that. Very good idea.
