Bought not dug- usually i’d just look at a red book or something but I’m not sure about this coin. The details are beautiful; I’d very unprofessionally grade it VF35 or XF40. Obviously however, this is not the case because of the damage. The front has a few shallow scratches on the face, and a light stain on the left side. The other side of the coin is nearly flawless. Does anyone know the value? Thanks

My white whale we have Spanish silver and early silver but not ONE LC!!!! Ugggh

Redbook prices are retail dealer prices. That is a nice coin, but the scratches cut it’s value in half. No expert, but I’d say $20.

Many collectors use ePay for coin values, as it basically sets the market as far as prices go.
Nice buy-it-now examples of that coin on ePay for around $50.

Thanks for the info. I picked it up for around 12$ so I’m happy.

Minus the scratches the coin grades VF. Currently a VF Braided Hair Large Cent retails for around $28-30 at coin shows. With the scratches the value is reduced quite a bit. For the $12 you paid I say you didn't do too badly.
