So first off, I know what it is. I am just curious how it may have been used. Sorry I forgot to put something in there for scale, but think suspender buckle size. Also, with the patent date March 15, 1864, could this possibly have had a military use? Seems too fragile for a saddle strap buckle, so..knapsack? clothing? Any thoughts?
