white's dfx question ?

Iam some what new but have been around mding for a few years as my father enjoyed it . now I have the bug
again, I have a white's dfx and some time's i will get a vdi reading with no sound , is this something i should dig ??
I use the pre set mood on coin/jewelry.

If the VDI numbers lock then I would check it out. The tone and the VDI are independant.

Try lifting your coil off the ground and hold it at waste level for a while. Watch the display and see if the VDI's come up. If so, you may have to do another ground balance, or back off on the AC or PAG just a tad. However, if you get a consistant vdi over the same spot even though there is no audio responce, I would be inclined to dig just to satisfy my curiosity.
