Found this across from an old Farm house. What is it its heavy?

Small plates used as safety between the feet of a wood stove and the floor. Stove legs would sit on them.
 
They were used in the 40's when I was a kid so I would think it would date back to the 1800's. In our house we were poor so we used mason jar lids. Other neighbors had the metal disks.
 
I had a wood burning stove in the 80's as a kid we were apparently under privileged but I didn't know it

We had a tin plate under our stove. It also protected the floor from hot coals that might fall out of the stove.
 
Tubs and wash boards in the yard here and shoes for winter were when the older brother got his and what he was wearing came down to me. Had a rag in the toe area to take up the slack until I grew into them.
