Small plates used as safety between the feet of a wood stove and the floor. Stove legs would sit on them.
If its that what date can it bring it back to? when were wood stoves invented?
They were used in the 40's when I was a kid so I would think it would date back to the 1800's. In our house we were poor so we used mason jar lids. Other neighbors had the metal disks.
We had a tin plate under our stove. It also protected the floor from hot coals that might fall out of the stove.
