seems like there are tons more Vlf machines at better prices than VLF. I am leaning towards PI for my use and I see it is best at finding gold nuggets.but they seems very $$$$ So here is the question If you are using a PI machine how good is it for say silver or relics? Can it be used successfully for those type of finds. or is it just going to be a dig fest?

Conversely a vlf machine is pretty good all around but I don't think it excels at fine gold. Am I wrong here and can this be enhanced with a smaller high frequency coil.

lastly what would you get t o hunt for primarily gold?
Tesoro sand shark vs tesoro lobo? or?

why is there not much on teknetics and Bounty hunter?

Do they make any PI machines

Pi's excell over a VLF in highly mineralized ground without losing depth.
Depending upon the circuit design and what it was intended to do, you might be having a dig fest.

I suggest you read: http://www.nuggetshooter.com/articles/UnderstandingPIdetector.html

My Pi was designed to locate small gold jewelry and gold rings at max depth, so its not as deep on silver, copper and brass. That's the trade off.

If your serious about a general purpose Pi, then look at the White's TDi.
Read the Field Manual http://www.manualsdir.com/manuals/355033/whites-electronics-classic-1-sl-tdi-field.html

$300 is a tough budget to meet with either a vlf or a pi for that matter. Nugget hunting, maybe look for a used gold bug or a used x terra, but that's going to be tough at that price point.

Are you hunting salt water beaches? Try the Tesoro Sand Shark.

When you say gold do you mean nuggets or jewelry?
Jewelry (like 14K) has some copper content, different than nuggets, different detector.
