I posted pics of this item i found several months ago. I have tried researching but have come up empty. I found this at an old house place early 1900's. Also found and WW2 button there. Live in N AL and this is something i have not run across. Any help would be appreciated

Looks like there is a shank post broken off there so Im guessing button - very cool piece!

I would agree, the concave side was the back of the button.

The Writing on it appears to be Manchu script. that's all I'm going to say for now. Is this solid and heavy..? brass or copper?

I talked to my friend who is in China right now. She replied this to me..

"Talked to a person which knows history of the dynasties and they said the writing is Manchu which comes from Qing dynasty but they had no idea what the item represents they said archeologist in Chinese history should be able to help but said the script is very old....no longer used!"

that's all she gave me, but I would say it needs to be looked at by a true Chinese historian who studies Qing specifically.
