Looking for help identifying this object I found today. It appears to be a whale with a small hole at the bottom. I think it is too heavy to be for a necklace or bracelet. Any ideas?

Possibly. At first I thought the hole should be on top. But the more I looked at it, it resembled a whale with the hole being at the bottom. The outside edges have a lip that almost feels like a coin that has been pressed. I thought it may be some old fishing lead, wind chime, or jewelry. Definitely my coolest find of the day.

I hung it on some thread to see what it would look like as a chime. The tail looking piece sticks up, so no it's doesn't balance. This thing is fairly dense. I don't have small enough scales to check the actual weight but I will be picking some up tomorrow. This was found in Montgomery Alabama.

Very cool

Very cool find indeed! It could in fact be Spanish, depending on the type of metal, or Native American once again this would depend on the type of metal used likely copper if Native American.
