Old button and a lid

X

Xray

Found this button and lid today.
Button is pretty sweet, looks military. Has what appears to be an eagle perched on an anchor.
The lid was quite a challenge, got a good hit and pinpoint right next to a cement walkway that at one time led to an old house.
So I dug down about 6 inches right next to the sidewalk, and had to burrow under the sidewalk a couple inches to get to it.
Got my hopes up for a brief second, but it was pretty obvious before I even got it out of the ground that it was way to thin and large to be any kind of coin.

Wow thanks Matt, was positive it was pre WW2 but wasn't thinking civil war era.
If so I believe this would be my first Civil war relic.

geo - A bit of a bummer, but good practice. I knew something was there at the sidewalks edge, and sure enough the detector was not lying. One like that would be easy to walk away from, but you never can be sure just what you are walking away from.
I have hunted this lot for 3 years, so my finds are getting deeper and more challenging, which is as the way it should be.

And Don thanks, I'm sure most would agree that relics are every bit as enjoyable to find as coins, if not more so in some cases.
