Yeah you have to stand up these days. It's the difference between the old school of thought and the newbie experience of suddenly finding ourselves doing something we know is legit but being treated like a miscreant for the first time in our lives. Flying under the radar and yessir'ing away unpleasant encounters is what got us into this mess in the first place.

Where I detect I am the least of the rangers and maintaince crews worries. There's always drunks passed out on benches and lawns and shootings, muggings ect ect.

I will not just give in to a unnamed employee who did not have the human respect to get out of his truck walk over to you and at least ask "what you are doing".

I have walked over to the restriction sign at parks with park employees and showed their park rules I copied from the net. I know the park and township rules better than they do.

I always leave the my search area better than it was when I got there. My only fear is that some ahole with a full size shovel hits my site after me and jam's me up.

When I do find craters with cans and trash next to them I photograph them and repair them if possible. I go to the maintenance department when I can and show them the pics and have them know it was not me. If I can not repair the hole I use white spray paint mark the hole and let maintenance know where the crater is.

I have developed a working agreement with the maintenance crews in 5 townships so far in Jersey. I'm going to Clementon to search for a mower part that was lost. They want to find it because they cant wait 6 weeks for a replacement.

You have to remember these are men that have a schedule and do not want any extra work.Become an asset and you will be surprised how much room you get.
