paranormal

Not while detecting but me and my brother were doing pictures for my mom at her house that we were working on and caught several strange pictures One was a man and woman standing by the window looking out. she had a red dress on and was much smaller than the man

I have seen programs on TV called "Haunted History" which is about items that supposedly held energy from the past. While watching these programs I would think that we detectorists sure do expose ourselves to this possibility. Ha! I think for the most part people who have experienced paranormal in the past are the ones that are convinced something is out there. People who have never experienced anything are the ones that are really doubtful. To make a long story short I use to be a "doubter" until I experienced a definite paranormal once and I hope never again!

I can't say that I take the paranormal seriously, but I also do not dismiss it. I see things out of the corner of my eye that I'm not sure what they are. But more so when I was a kid living in a hundred year old farm house, than I do now. When I was growing up on the farm, I was an only child for quite a few years before my sister was born. During that time, I had some imaginary friends that I played with, Jim, Mary, and the twins. To me they were real. I never told anyone about them because frankly, I was embarrassed that I had imaginary friends for some reason. So I grew up, moved off the farm, and life went on. My sister grew up, got married, and she and her husband stayed out there on the farm. One day a few years ago, we were talking about growing up out there and how isolated we were, and she told me that when her oldest son was just little, before her other kids were born, he had some imaginary friends named Jim, Mary, and that there were also these twins that he would pretend that he was playing with. I just thought that was pretty interesting.

Interesting, What are the odds??

This is how I view it. I can't say it is real. I can't say it is not real. I do know it isn't something you want to play around with just in case it IS real. I don't mess with Ouija Boards, seances, "haunted houses", black magic, conjurations, etc.

There are just some things you don't want to be wrong about. I will remain "Cautiously Skeptical"

My college educated daughter believes in ghosts. Makes me wonder where I went wrong. Now UFO's are another story.

Sounds like you did fine, nothing wrong with not dismissing the paranormal.

I am the opposite on UFO's however... I mean, in 1965 the government was zooming around at 80,000 ft at speeds of Mach 3+ in the (then) super secret Blackbird SR-71. I don't know of any official sightings of them flying before they were declassified, but you know if someone did the government would deny knowing anything about it. Heck, it's true top speed is still classified! Secret aircraft also explains why UFO sightings were sharply increased before and during wars.

Anyway, if they had this kind of equipment in 1964, imagine what they have now!

I can't say that I believe in ghost or paranormal activity but I've lived in SW Missouri/NE Oklahoma since 1972 and the "spook light" has been around a long time, just google Oklahoma Spook Light. Anyway, I've never seen but my oldest brother and some friends seen it about 1978 and said it was real weird. Fast forward to about 5 years ago, We bought this house that we live in now and the spook light is just north of us. One night I'm out on our back deck enjoying a cup of coffee and I see this light going across the horizon, I thought that it might be a plane or helicopter but it is right at treetop level and there is no noise or sound coming from it. I watch it move across the horizon until it disappears. When I went inside I told my wife about it and she said that it was probably the spook light.

I found a oak crib in a friends basement and he said that it was his family's pass down item but spoke with his family and gave it to me having a newborn. I set it up and two days later we had a shadow moving around our home. My wife woke me up one night and said two lady's we're talking in our living room so I went to look and nothing. A few days later I came home and my gas stove was on but not lit ? I opened every door and window to air it out. I had just put my son in the crib the next night and my sister had bought a stuffed toy for him. I put the toy in the toy box and walked out. I probably got five feet away and my son started crying so I went in and that toy was laying right next to him half way under his arm. I was so shocked ! I got my son and went to my parents house. My wife and son stayed there and I came home and removed the crib. I used sage and prayer and now we have our normal life and home back. I'm always worried that I'll dig up something that should of stayed buried. Before this happened I was skeptical of paranormal activity but not anymore. I also don't go looking for it either haha.

I do not want to highjack this thread but just wanted to add a comment. An older brother was a jet propulsion specialist in the Air Force from ’66 to ’69 or ‘70. After servicing medium-range bombers and teaching new recruits he was stationed at a stateside base where he worked on experimental aircraft. He could not discuss what he did for many years after he left but has since told me about some of the craft including saucer shaped ones with miniature jet engines around the perimeter. This work was classified and what was also classified were events described and sometimes filmed by the experimental pilots of other unknown craft that sometimes appeared during test flights. During debriefing meetings the pilots would start describing how agile these craft were and the meetings would be stopped and everyone other than the pilots were cleared from the room. Some pilots were reassigned after these events because they did not want to go back up after these events. Since I have never experienced an unusual event that I couldn’t come up with a plausible explanation I am a skeptic when it comes to the paranormal. I believe that governments around the world have experimental craft that we could not imagine but I am open to the thought that among the many planets in the vastness of space at least one planet other than our own has been capable of spawning life. Just my 2 cents worth of opinion.

Sorry OP for this off topic post.

Never had anything detecting related, but I live in a house that is about 120 years old and it was originally a doctors office/town hospital and then it was a hostile and bed and breakfast. We have lived there for 5 years now and a couple tenants before us a man who had jaw and throat cancer died in our bedroom. We actually never knew about this until one of or neighbors said something. Sometimes I can sleep at night and I go and watch tv and I have heard foot steps in the rooms above me and no one lives up there. I have heard this multiple times and have even heard it go from one side of the room to the other as if someone was walking between the upstairs rooms. I accept the fact that the house we live in is probably haunted but as long as they dont bother me they can stay

Well, consider this also, if you believe there is a God, then it's easy to realize there is also a Devil and demonic spirits, which have also been referred to as "lying spirits" which can pose as the departed during so-called "séances" and Ouija board use, so that stuff is not something to mess with.

There is that whole "Don't open any doors you can't close" thing.

Yep, you don't want to involve yourself in anything that would attract them, I remember reading in the book of Acts the apostles did not look for them, but when they happened to come across them they dealt with them very quickly, it didn't take long at all, nothing like the way Hollywood portrays it.

The movie "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" was based upon the case of an Exorcism in Germany that lasted off and on for over several weeks to a month. Supposedly, Lucifer himself showed up to watch the "festivities". It was a case documented by the Vatican. Not Hollywood. Given that the apostles were taught to exorcise demons by the very first exorcist, they were probably much more efficient at it...

Well, it seems according to scripture even the everyday believer can do as the apostles did and they merely had to command the spirit to leave and it happened right away. Anyhow, like we said before, it's best to avoid things that attract them to begin with.
