It was the annual kite festival today out at the big lake and while the water is too cold for most swimmers (aside from the kids), I decided to jump in to see what was left from the previous year. The walk down in the water to the pier yielded nothing until I noticed a small washout due to a giant log on the beach. Right near the shore I started hitting targets including a handful of greenies and a lead soldier (my 1st). Mixed in was a 46' nickel and some Felix's (This is my motion to forever change the term zincoln's... "zinc pennies" to Felix's).
I followed the beach down a bit and got a small blip on the Excal (which I fixed 2 nights ago with some marine epoxy because the lower rod holding the coil to the shaft came loose). Anyways, the blip turned out to be this nice little cross. Continuing down the beach I snagged a few dimes and quarters along with plenty of trash. Not a bad hunt for so early in the season on the big lake, but I wouldn't mind being back in Italy finding some Euros and Roman gold!
On a said note, my AT Pro will not turn on since being back in the States. Worked fine in Italy for the entire trip, but even with new batteries she won't wake up... must have some rough jet lag... thoughts on the issue? Hoping Rusty at Garrett can fix her!
