Found this in my Civil War hunting area up along I-75. It appears this area is more of a camp site than a skirmish or battle area.
I am wondering on the date. I have found a hand forged pick ax where the blacksmith took two pieces of iron an pounded them into to one piece with the square opening for the handle.
this looks similar but rather a broad ax blade with the areas around where the handle would go are broken off.
Still all in all, I don't really know the date. any help ID'ing this would be helpful.
Civil War date range? Hard to tell unless someone could tell me this shape of an axe is common during the civil war.
