I built this myself to with stand the abuse of digging in hard rocky river and lake beds. It is made from stainless steel restaurant shelving and food crocks. I have the equipment to do it and the stainless was free. the stainless welding spool was $35 bucks. The front of the scoop is double wall thick, it will never bend or wear out. The handle comes off at 90 deg from the scoop and then takes a 20 deg bend. This allows for more of your foot to get on the scoop when the bed is very hard packed. The handle, bracket and kick plate are very very strong and should last a long time.

Just thought I would share.

2. Foot on kick plate

Hey there Black Davy!
When you have a few spare minutes, please make me 3 of your diggers and post them to me in South Africa!
Cool tool man! I can hopefully get one made by one of my engineering clients. Thanks for the pics.
