Well I found something tonight with an 1800's patent date on it:p
This is a tough one, but I will give clues as we go.
ONE guess per day per person please, and be specific!

The nickel is for reference only.

Hint #1 It is made of copper and it is hollow
Hint #2 It has wood in it, ie it was mounted on a wood handle
Hint #3 think hunting, think Torrington CT, think 1883
