I'm gonna buy a hip mount for my excal.

I would be so grateful if some of you experienced with hip mounts weigh in.

I've followed the threads here and seems both Plugger and Anderson both have faithful followers.

These mounts seem to be identical… except for the price

Here are the fee-bay links

I have the blue one, but didn't buy it from Kellyco. I paid half that for it. It is simple and works. I would never pay $50 for it.

I would try one of the others. I have a rod by plugger, it is great. I would give him my business again.

Heavy duty padded belt from Harbor Freight $7.99

~ 13" of 1/2" PVC pipe

3 Nylon bolts and wing nuts

Drill pipe and belt and assemble ~ 20 minutes

Paint the PVC pipe if you don't want white

Works as well and for under $20

Chest mount from Plugger is more comfortable than hip mount and puts pp knob in close proximity it your left hand.

Plus one! Got the nylon belt at goodwill with a pouch on it. Melted the bolt holes by heating up a screwdriver. White backer I made was an old bondo mixing board piece. Nylon bolts I got at Lowes. Knob guard I heated up a piece of lexan with a heat gun and bent it using the gaps in some 2x6" steps. I actually have lots of aluminum tubing. But you can use CPVC pipe. I mount mine on my back. Don't know they are there. Can reach back for the pinpoint/disc knob easy with your left hand. If you have to adjust other knobs you just spin it around your waist to your side and adjust.
