I found this today at a farmhouse that was built in 1790. It looks military to me with the crossed swords ( one handle is broken off ) and it also looks British with the standing lion on the left side and a horse on the right. The medallion in the middle seems to have the remains of enamel coloring for the background. What the heck is this?

Man you keep finding awesome stuff! Nice find. I'm not sure as to what it is though

Thanks...here’s a pic of all of the “other” awesome stuff I found this morning. LOL

Depending on location, could have been Canadian from when they were a colony?

Odd. The center seal is from George III and yet the fleur de lis pattern is French.

This was found in Southcentral Pennsylvania. We've found other British items at this site, including a 1940 Sixpence coin. We haven't figured out the "Why" yet...still looking for the connection.

From what I can find on the internet the British also used the fleur de lis on their coat of arms. If I may ask, what in the center seal points to George III? I'm trying to learn as much about this as I can.

Thanks for the replies.
