I found this in a 1870's mining camp. This and a 3 ringer. I can make out "(J?) Ames Tayor" on top. "B__TAN WORKS" above the obvious "147". The bottom says "_ _KEN HEA___". The first work there is likely token. I was thinking the middle might say "Botan works" like a florist maybe.

On the back, I can make out "_REE __SE". FREE ROSE maybe?

This stuck me as being very similar to a sovenier crushed penny but 7 or 8 times larger in mass.

Any thoughts or ever seen one like it.

Thanks! The only thing I know is that I've seen fire and I've seen rain...

The actual mines in this area are numerous as we're the claim holders. I do have a book on the history of the area. It is void of Taylors...

I think this may be a miner's pit check token. A miner would leave his token outside the mine to be accounted for. Most of them had hole so that they could be left on a peg board. this one doesn't. Maybe it went in a can. Still trying to fill in the blanks on those words though.
