Several weeks in with the MFD, and i'm having a ball hunting my old pastures with this machine, it's fantastic at alerting to targets, it can be as easy as you like to setup and run, and i'm back to digging the coins at depth that i wasn't getting with my last few machines.

But i've also been trying to understand more about the modes and audio, and this machine has lots more to offer other than just depth, for my type of detecting it has the best mix ratio of depth and separation.

Within the modes available, you can set it as a snap shot deep coin hunter on solo targets, you can also set it where it reports everything under the coil at once, and it can blend from target to target.

Here's a few vids of the 'hated by some lol' nail tests we've seen here this year, the down the barrel test, i don't think i've ever seen a machine do it so well with a coil this size 12.5x9.5?
The audio can be delayed, but shortening the audio report helps tremendously.
The way it performs these tests has been a pleasant surprise for myself as i've not heard the MFD being touted anywhere before as being so capable in these scenarios.
From memory the Deus can't pass the barrel test with 9" or 11" coils, you'd probably need the HF coil on to hit it, not sure on how others or the latests AT Max or the Impact with stock coils fitted would fair????? so there's a challenge for Calabash and Tnss lol.
The coin below nails, it just passes with considerable ease.

It's early days with the MFD and i'm probably fumbling through it compared to those who have more experience with it, but I'll post more as i learn it further and get more proficient with it.
Nails are 3" long, and the coin is a silver dime.

Not bad Calabash, your just getting it with the toe of the coil @28khz there, it's harder to hit a coin laying beside a nail in your video than the test minelab showed with the Equiniox, they were a little cheeky on that one lol

I done the same test with my Deus and 13" coil at the time with a big piece of iron.

Forgot to post this here, the Signum got me my oldest silver to date last week, a King John 1st penny from 1199-1216.
There's a few cuss words in the vid so be warned lol

Ghound what size boards are those used in the test? I have found most machines i test start to fail miserably at 1.75 to 2 inches or more. At 1x4 lumber i can get good results out of several machines i have tested. One thing i have noted as well,,, when you start lifting the coil higher and higher you can get some machines to test better.

Probably a better test and i am going to start doing this is to have nails within the first 2 inches of my test bed and the good targets at 4 inches to 8 inches deep under the surface nails. Gut feeling is nothing will pass the test though, depending on the proximity of the good target to the overlying nails.

There about 3"x2"
I've done similar in ground, nails a 2" coin at 4" and some machines have done better than others, once you go a bit deeper it gets a lot harder, the detectors stop separating and just call the target that gives the best response.
I've a copper coin at a depth of 7" dead, and 2 rusty nails above, one at 3" and the other at 5" or as near to.
So it's set out just like the wooden blocks, nail-coin-nail, it's a hard target and it shows the weakness if you have your settings off.
