can my digger stick out the bottom of the sheath?

I read somewhere that it was a good idea to have a opening at the bottom of digger/knife sheath so dirt don't accumilate. My digger was bit long anyway so I cut the bottom out of the leather sheath..now knife/digger sits all the way in as it should but the last 2" of tip area stick out below the sheath. It don't rub or nothing except people can see that it resembles a knife (but it is a digger..fiskar BigGrip) will this be a issue do you think?
