* Sapphire Rings Valuation .. WOW *

My first response on the blue " :holycow: "

I know you polish your finds. Do you have the "before" pic?

R5

I have not polished them, only a warm soapy wash.
This was as found at the beach.

Meggie old Chap...Both those rings certainly look like they were made by the same High Q artist...do you figure they were lost by the same person or couple?

I would be interested in hearing your thoughts regarding the loss of this fine pair of beauties...:bowdown:

Yes, I agree that they were probably made by the same person, the valuer mentioned it too!
They were found two days apart probably around 15 to 20 metres distance between them both!
Found in a small sheltered bay beneath rocks & pebbles after a fair bit of sand erosion.
I always knew this spot would produce, old photos showed it was a popular spot 70 to over 100 years ago .. so it has just been a waiting game!
I was able to hunt the spot for just three days before it sanded back in again & between two of us we scored 6 old gold rings
Will it happen again in my lifetime? who knows .. but I will be ready you can count on it!

I recently found this one! 14K band, 3 diamonds on each side of the band and a 4 carat emerald cut natural blue sapphire.

This was Vaughn Garrett’s first Find of the Month for March ( my second FOTM) in 10 months. I found it at a 90 year old house believed to have been a vacation house for Chicago gangsters in the 30s.

Like the man said, I LOVE THIS HOBBY.

Wow

Now that's impressive! :wow: Terrific finds! Makes me feel I am spending my time looking for the wrong stuff! :)

I have just got back from having both Sapphires rings valued.

Insurance value on the Blue one .... $19,568 (US$14,000)
on the Yellow one ... $5,795. (US$4195)

They said the retail value on the blue one would be at least $15,000 (US$10,730) .. I love this hobby.

And you can generally expect 15% of retail on the aftermarket. So... $2250 USD is great! :)

That is just so awesome.

Had to show the wife so she keeps letting me metal detect!!! "Honey, I know I'm bringing a lot of junk into the house, but maybe someday. . ."

Not entirely true, I can assure you .. it depends to whom & where you sell!
I can and have done very, very much better over here .. and I mean much better!
Thanks for your positive input though!

I've sold a cartier and tiffany rings on ebay for 50% of their retail value... with those valuable stones I'm sure you can do fairly well.
