That"s where folks go wrong mostly
The gain setting allowed seems to depend on EMI and the ground minerals-- and ground conditions be it wet or dry.
The gain setting actually has very little to do with overall depth-- meaning most of the time a gain of say 9 or 10 will suffice as long as your disc number is set pretty high.
You would be surprised at just how deep the detector will strike with say a gain of only 6.
The problem is knowing/ learning how high to run the gain.
And I don"t think a person really can ever run rx gain at 14 or 15.
