I'm sure there must be a few on here running the T2 fitted with the
Detech 13" ultimate coil

Does it make a great deal of difference to depth, and overall finds ?

Is it that much heavier ?

Is it worth getting ?

Depth no.

Over all finds totals, not possible to tell.

Heavier than stock coil, yes. (Minelab Safari )

Worth getting, yes.

Build quality, poor.

Costs, average. (UK)

So it's heavier Doug, has no extra depth, and has poor build quality.
Although it's still worth getting ?

It must have something going for it ?

Mmmmmmm... :D

P.S. Will we see you at the Hedfest rally on the 23rd ?

I wanted a bigger coil for the Safari without having to sell 'another' kidney!

Big beach, 11" coil stock really was not ideal so I looked around for a cheaper alternative, the Detech 13" was just about in the price range so I ordered one from Laura.

Not had it off the machine since on the beach, not quite sure how it will stand up to the rigours of beach searching but time will tell.

Deeper finds, can't really say if I was honest, but I do cover more area per sweep which what I was trying to achieve.

This is the first after make coil I have ever bought and when I compare in to the original Minelab coil it looks to have been built down to a price, but it does the job which was my main object.

My coils weighed in with cable at:-

Minelab stock coil 11"= 568 grams.

Ultimate 13" coil = 609 grams.

Yes I will be at 'Headfest' so will another forum member who is flying in from the USA on Friday.

See you in just over a week Alan.

Shame I missed you at Hedfest Doug, as well as our guest from the States.

I was at Southend airport on the Saturday morning, to take some close up
pictures of the two Lancasters on the apron. Then we watched them fly out
over Hadleigh Castle at lunchtime..
By the time I got to Hedingham it was around 3pm, so I fitted my new coil
I'd bought from Laura and Nick, and went on the Friday field. Finds were
few and far between.
I went again on Sunday, but again didn't find a great deal. It was the third
time we'd done that field. I was picking up loads of tiny pieces of metal
though, so I know it's working OK.
Found a nice Eddie I Irish penny last week too. My first hammy for some time

There's a huge difference in the build quality, from the Nel coil to the Detech.

I'd go for the Nel.
