I have no idea what this is,I found it nearly a foot deep,there was a dandy button in the same hole :) it seems to be the same type of metal a crotal bell is made from ,but it has an iron pin running through it.a large hole on one end and a smaller hole on the other end..no threads as if it was a knob that was screwed onto something.

Maybe a ox horn knob, is it a tapered hole or a hollow ball with two holes.

hollow ball,one hole is larger than the other...no threads in either hole and a small iron (pin?) through the sides
