Congrats king! How long does it take to search a box?
Thanks for the question, Diggin Funatic! KThas a system....He cuts open the box of 100 rolls, has two plastic trays, uses needle nose pliers to rip open each roll, dumping them in batches of 10 rolls into the first tray...then sits on the couch with TV on some show He listens to while sorting...sorting goes pretty quickly unless something is recovered, then laughter and appropriate remarks to the Queen. If no audience is present, a brief appreciative examination and onto the end table the coin goes! When the tray is completed, then it is dumped into a ziplock gallon bag and the procedure begun again. If KT is feeling energetic a box takes about 30 minutes, if not then an hour or more!
Since halves have large dates and are easy to work with due to their size, going through a box goes pretty quickly. Of course if some goodies are recovered, then when the box is completed, a general review of what was recovered is made and notes taken ...Box 1 etc.
LOL When the boxes are skunks it seems to take a long time but probably not more than 30 to 40 minutes each!
Most of the time KT does not make minimum wage, but when He finds a Walker or a Bennie or a 64 Ken, then He is most happy! And rarely, He hits a bonanza box and it is all worth it!
KT gets his 5 boxes on Thursday and rips through two boxes that night, 2 boxes on Friday night and the last box Saturday morning usually. Dumps first 2 boxes at the bank on Friday afternoon, next 2 Saturday morning, and last one Monday afternoon. Orders next boxes on Monday for the following Thursday.
This has been going on since early February and more seriously since KT was diagnosed with cancer and due to a port in His right shoulder, He cannot do MDing until it is removed and recovery time....Hopefully later this fall.
KT decided He was going to do this for 2012 to see what silver He could recover from circulation. Tried dimes...to hard to see dates although He got 2 silver Rosies and tried quarters, with no luck.
What KT likes about it is the fact that He is recirculating money, cleaning the silver from it! Initial investment sounds high....$2500, but still working with that same money after 6 months! Like the Queen said, "Beats what you can get with a CD or savings account now!" KT has recovered enough silver that if He were to sell it, it would be worth around $1200, and the dump machine at the bank is closing in on $400 in overages! So aside from being a fun pursuit, it has been profitable!
OH man, sorry for the protracted answer!
