Suspender Clip?

I found this detecting along the bank of the Missouri River just a few days ago. The water level was quite low and was just in the water. Because of the thin (3/32") I first thought it was from a child costume. There is no maker's mark that I can find or stamp to research it further. I'm curious to find out if it's old, and preserved by the water, or if its something modern and recently lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
