I went back to the burned down hotel site and had a great hunt. I’ll make a post on that when everything is cleaned up, but i wanted to show this old makeup compact. When i found it it was absolutely covered in rust. About two hours of chiseling it off with a hammer and screwdriver, i was able to pop it open. Somehow, it was still intact after being in the watery gravel for what i guess to be 100 years. It has a beautiful latch on the back, and you can tell it used to be gold plated. In the top of the compact, there’s a layer of glass, and the compact itself is full of crumbling makeup. I was pretty excited about how it turned out. I may empty the makeup and use it to store my silvers. Thanks for looking

Update. After cleaning, i see the compact has the outline of a woman’s head on the lid. Looks to be Nefertiti. I think i saw one like this on the forum a few years back but can’t remember
