Big gold in the dirt

I went to a local park area that I hadn’t been to before since it’s really old. Didn’t find any silver but with 30 minutes of switching on the etrac got a signal for this beautiful 14k gold ring. It was flat in the dirt and rang up like an Indian before I dug. When I got the hole open my sunray probe gave me a 12-10 reading once I was closer and had a side reading. Also dug an Indian later.

Anyone know the jeweler mark that has an H inside the Star?

10.63 grams

I thought so also but they said theirs is hds

Awesome Ring you have there

possibly H Stern :?:

https://jewelry.ha.com/ref/designer-marks.zx#H

Not exact but I see they use a Star and their Name is H Stern so ya never know... maybe a lead for you.

On a side note.. don't you sometimes hate it when it is engraved inside.. usually not enough info for a return and rings like that are usually worth more than melt if sold as a ring.. however who would want to buy a ring engraved with someone else's info :?:.. not sure how much it would cost to have it removed but "may" be worth it..

might try to find the owner if still alive
or maybe a family member
i am sure the reward would out weight the gold value i am sure
even if you got zero cash ...:cool3:

Love those fat cigar bands!! Nice save! I'm just surprised its not older. I have the info on the star , if I remember correct they were 30's..give me a day and I'll find that info. I just dug several of those and all were dated early 1900's but the hallmark was different.

Found it....but not like yours..."A" then a Star..

A plus Star hallmark - Maker's mark - Allsop Bros. Corner Orchard and Camp Streets, Newark, NJ; 1894-1937.

Last year would have been their 50th anniversary. So, one or both of them could be as young as late 60s.

I have 25 returns so far including a ring valued at over $8000 and never asked for a penny, just a picture of the owner with the item. When I need to cheer up for any reason I look at those pictures and the smiles on those faces and I feel 1000% better

I like this![

What a honker! The sheer size makes me lean toward 1968, rather than 1868, but the inscription and hallmark could be from either era; in my "lack of expertise" opinion. I notice the 2 sets of initials have different last name initials. Is this normal for wedding bands of either era? Could be a clue to age?
Very nice dig!
