Big gold in the dirt

WOW !!! That baby is sweet !!!
Wonder if its 1868.......
When you said it rang like an indian,is that like a 30 on the Etrac??

Congrats on the sweet yellow.......

That's an awesome ring by all and any standards.. Huge congrats!!

What a honker! The sheer size makes me lean toward 1968, rather than 1868, but the inscription and hallmark could be from either era; in my "lack of expertise" opinion.

I've found enough older gold (at least I believe) to say..

Rings going back into the 1800s have the hallmarks and karat markings cast into the ring, not stamped after the ring was cast.

These are cast..

Thanks for posting this. I knew there was another clue there, but didn't think of that. Guess I need to go find a few 1800's rings.

Nice old gold honker, funny, I dug A gold class ring the other day that sounded like a deep penny too. I wonder if it was a family gold ring passed down by generations. The marks absolutely look older than the 60's. Congrats!
