Seeing johnglassman's thread about brick dumps reminded me of finding two rare Michigan City Indiana "Hutchinson" bottles. There was formerly a house on the location and some outbuildings still stood so I probed around where it looked like the house was. Broken bottle parts mixed in with old bricks (leftovers from building the house?) and it looked like I wasn't gonna get anything whole. Probing sideways under a brick, I hit that clunk of glass, and after digging out the brick pieces, lo and behold the "Michigan City Bottling Co." hutch with a "gravestone" style embossment is unearthed after being buried at least 100 years! Found a few other broken crown top Chicago beers and then one more hutch, a "Standard Bottling Works" slug plate Hutch. That makes the oldest Standard in my collection. Needless to say, I hit that place more than a few times, and unearthed a BUNCH of broken bricks and glass chards but never did as well there again.
