Hey Glass (or anybody)...what can you tell me about the Frost's Liniment bottle? Yes, I know, it's broken. But I like it and I dug it so I'm keeping it and displaying it (broken side to the back) ;) Cleaned best I could and put mineral oil on it. Can't find "Frost's Liniment" during a cursory googling.

That bottle looks to have a pontil scar on the bottom so you are into some real age there (1860s?) It also has an applied top with a "drippy" lip, another sign of real age. If you dug that or found it out in the wild, I would go and hit that spot good. Here's some info on pontil marks:

As per MTtrashdiggers posting above, that was an Indianapolis company and I cannot find it in any of my books so it is probably a rather rare local bottle.

That must be it....30 traveling salesmen eh? Have you ever seen The Outlaw Josey Wales?? “How’s it work on stains?”

Thanks

Thank you...I only found pieces and one whole Dr O Phelps Brown aqua colored bottle...but there must be more. Will have to try again after hunting season (it’s woods)

Hit that spot good! A lot of pontiled bottles go for a pretty penny. I sold a pontiled flask for 175$ about 5 years ago. Nice find, and absolutely keep digging! Some bottle dumps can go REALLY deep, and usually the deeper you go the older the glass will get. Congrats!
