Any Sov users have any thoughts on the optional digital meter?

The purist in me says I don't need it; I should dig everything that sounds good anyway.

The trouble is remember what good sounds like. I have a hard time remember tones from hunt to hunt.

Any thoughts?
 
I would go with the meter. Anything that can help in a digging decision is good.
 
Yes, thank you for the link! The timing was just about perfect.

Now I need to figure out how to make a stand for the Sov, I can't stand laying it in the wet grass and/or dirt while I dig.
 
Yes, I got it, and I hooked it up at the very last minute before heading out for a week long vacation at the beach... so far it's been great. I was having a hard time remembering the tones from one hunt to the other and the meter really helps. At this point I would say it was a great buy. Thanks again for pointing me to that auction!

I've been on the lookout for another one but nothing yet. RE The link to the stand, if you make one leave one of the joints unfixed so that you can turn it inline with the main rod, that way it won't hinder you swing too much, it can be done with a groove and a small screw
