Had to replace a bunch of drywall in a rental trailer we own. I get so tired of people who like to destroy things. I screwed some 2 x 6 pieces along the bottom for a kickplate to go behind the drywall. Always gets punched around the light switch, so I put a thick oak board behind that. Just to support the drywall, mind you.

Maybe have a device with a recorded message behind the wall that will play when the wall is kicked and holler "ouch !" 
Hopefully the security deposit covers the damages, but even so I'm sure you'd prefer not to have to keep doing the work !
