I reread my owners manual today and was amazed at how much I had forgot about the operation and settings of my MD, and I have a fairly simple one. Also trust your detector, I had a hit and was about to give up when out popped a 1965 nickel. I know not a great find, but a find. joe

Great advice. The same could be said for re-reading other electronic manuals such as DVD players/recorders, camcorders, and other products to discover other features they offer that initially went un-noticed. They usually have many hidden features built-in.
