I found this while hunting on a relative's property today. I believe it dates to the late 1800s. I know it was handcrafted and not a manufactured square nail, but any info about them would be nice. I've done some searches on this property before because the guy that sold it to my relatives said that he buried a jar of coins a long time ago and I'm bound and determined to find them. I believe they may be from the early 1900s and may contain some IHs!!! This place has a lot of Confederate history to it as it is in South Carolina and is located near Poinsett Bridge. HH

Defiantly an old nail! I love finding them. If I go to an old, rundown house or building, I will get as many good ones I can find and keep them.

Great find!

Thanks, :p I saw on eBay that you can sell those suckers for quite a lot. They had ten selling for around 5.00. Good luck and HH
