A buddy of mine got us an awesome permission we’ve spent every spare hour over the last couple weeks at. We’ve dug 15 Barber dimes, a hand full of Indians, and one seated dime over the last two weeks Today was the epic hunt. He hits a 99 on his AT Max, bends down to pick up a “smashed can”. Pulls a Morgan 2” down. Later in the evening and a couple of Mercs later I get a nice 12-46 6” down. My first barber quarter. 10 minutes later he saves a SLQ. Can’t wait to go back.

My goodness, that is a lot of great finds, and a Morgan Dollar too! What TYPE of location are you detecting (not where is it!) school, park, private estate...?

It’s currently at farmers field. It historically was used for the circus when it was in town.

Wow... a Circus site! One of the finest locations a guy can find to detect! We had a few of these where I live in Montana. The original one is under pavement (a Safeway store parking lot) and a later one is under a batch of newer homes at the west end of town.

I meant to ask....what other kinds of relics are you finding related to the circus? I hunted a site that hosted an annual carnival for decades and the more non-coin signals I dug the more relics I found, including a few identical novelty junk rings that were likely given away as a prize.

We’ve been hitting the field pretty hard, it’s been a race before the field gets planted. We started by pulling the obvious coin signals. Pulled around 40 silvers from the property before the clean signals stared to fade. Also saved wheaties, buffs, V nickels, and Indians. The field has been extremely hard on the indians and nickels.
Next we hit everything else. We each pulled a gold cuff link. Came across a handful of tokens, 3 from a pool room that is long gone. I grabbed a 1924 chauffeurs badge from its grave. A small lead toy dog that had been hit a few times with the plow. Found some military buttons from WW1, one still had some gilt left on it to my surprise.
I’m hoping to catch the property after the ground get turned before it gets planted for one last shot before fall. I have meant with the owner serval times and we have given him some relics and coins as appreciation and have secured hunts for the fall after harvest.

Wow. Congrats on landing such a productive site!

The land owner told us this place has been detected before. Like to know what was pulled in the past. I won’t be asking though, don’t want them to know they left a lot of goodies behind.

Those are some excellent finds, Kat!

In central MT theres a town called Ringling that got its name from the Ringling Bros. Ive always wanted to find where the circus camped, and detect there.

WOW, what can be said that wasn't already! A "treasured" spot for sure. Congrats on the finds!

Great job, great site!
