I've been battling these subterranean demons everytime I land hunt. The lesche doesn't cut it in my opinion. Anyone ever thought of toting a battery powered saw of some sort? Kinda like a Dewalt. I'm definetley not into harming trees but there has to be a better way than a fold up saw or something similar. I am an inventor and tinkerer in my spare time and think something small, lightweight, and battery powered that could easily be carried would be an asset to this hobby. Opinions please.

I hunt the woods often and for roots ,twigs and briar I have a 14 inch loppers and 18 lesche. Short trips I carry a bucket longer hikes a back pack.

I carry a small pair of bypass pruners. They work pretty well on roots up to 3/4". Anything bigger I try to dig around them.

I hear you. I somehow manage to find targets under the thickest tri and quad branching roots known to man. I spent 45 mins today digging a wheat out form under the biggest most mangled root the tree has lol. It was fun to say the least. It really is cool looking though after you excavate under and around those big roots. I should have taken a picture. My big problem is that our soil is mainly sand so trying to cut small to smallish roots with the lesche is that they just wiggle around to where you can't get a purchase on them. Be on the look out for my new power digger in a store near you haha.

I use a little Gerber saw. Bought it to cut up deer. Not too expensive, and works great on those roots.

I've got a Gerber folding saw with a really sharp 6 inch blade. Also have a good quality machete that has a hook on the backside. If they won't work I'll fire up the avatar :D
