So today I returned to the beach where I found a 1940 half dollar back in August. It was a perfect day; the weather was cooperating and the beach was generous to me. I found a lot of coins, about half of them were 80's, and the other half were newer junk coins.

I also found a 1964 penny and a child's ring. But the best find is one I didn't recognize right away. It was paper thin, brass looking, and larger than a quarter. It had a lot of green crust on it that I scraped mostly away, before putting it in with the good finds and carrying on.

Later when I stopped to rest, I pulled it out in better sunlight for a closer look. That is when I noticed that it had an inner rim and wreath pattern of the old Canadian large cents! What a find, a 100 year old penny! So add that to the 1940 half dollar and a couple of 60's pennies, and I think this place is due for a work over.
