It seems to me that Walmarts is missing an opportunity by not giving a Walmart's gift charge without a fee in the Coinstar machines. Sam Walton would be thinking the same if he was still around. Sure,,,Applebees, etc. lets you skip the 10% fee. Walmarts should issue a gift card w/o a fee.

I agree, dumb move on their part. I use my banks coin machine anyway, it's free. It's also much faster than the CoinStar ones, at least the ones I use to use.

I get Amazon cards at full value, where you can everything you can walmart and more.

Maybe... But, if you are already in a Walmart, to use their coin machine, you'd be inclined to get one of their cards anyway, so they get to take you for a fee, then fleece you for the rest after you shop...

Reminds me that I should be getting a 1099 from my Walmart stock soon. They use to own the company I work for, still own a few shares. Wish I had gotten more...

Yeah, they took his dream of affordable, convenient shopping, into a small business crushing machine...

His dream was also to have a lot of affordable American products on the shelf. When he died that went out the window before he got cold. You used to have to look out for the falling prices. Now you have to look out for the people wearing night clothes around during the day you can see through:lol:

I noticed the Coinstar at my local Wal-China does in fact waive the fee if you get a Wal-Mart merchandise card in lieu of cash.

LI Tom
do I read right that you can get amazon cards at coinstar?

You'll get a receipt with a code on it....an "e-certificate" is what it's called. Just redeem the code at checkout when you shop Amazon.

Easy-peasy!

Sounds a lot like playing the slot machines at the local Casino. You win some you lose some.

This is what I do with my clad, dump coins, get Amazon card, give to wife to purchase myself more swing time.

I would cash in my coins for an Amazon card, but I've never seen that option in North Dallas. WalMarts should still offer no fee if you get their gift card. They just don't where I live. It's their bad in my opinion.
