+1. The heavy cast seam going up the hammer means "toy" to me. Still a pretty cool find.

Thanks BlueDog! Yea. The seam on the hammer looks like it was a toy. And it rang high. Good tone. I bet its an older toy, its solid and very detailed like the old days! Bet it was made in America!

Ha. I like it. I think a good clue is the double sided mismatched side screws on each side. There are no markings. But it will go in my treasure chest of other finds. You just never know, until you ask. Thanks for looking!!! It's appreciated. I call it "Dirt Fishing". :laughing:
 
It is a trigger from an old cap gun. The grooves were what gripped the cap strip and moved then into position under the hammer. Those were the old style caps in a paper roll.
