Default Old park. no solid signals

Stopped at an old park today. Saw that there was a lot of dirt removed for a new play area construction. They took off about 10 inches of dirt or more off. I would expect to get some good signals if they only took a couple inches off but they went too deep I think. Got 1 solid signal which looks like some kind of old pot metal with a blue coating. Other than that all signals, and there were hundreds, were irratic and never reliably repeatable. As I was leaving I looked into a hole that went down another 3 feet and saw some wire that looked like old fencing. I know I should have dug a few signals but it was so wet and chilly. Maybe I will go back with a shovel.

Definitely go back if conditions allow... if just to check out those signals and be sure they were junk... HH RickO

That's what I was thinking. That's probably where most of the coins are. It may be being used as fill someplace else.

Yeah, I wish I had access to all the scraped-off soil. That stuff has to go somewhere!

I remember very well seeing a parking strip going in, in an old section of town. I jumped in and hunted the entire stretch of clean, clear ground and found NOTHING. Then I decided to swing over the pile of dirt and found "v" nickels, buffalos, barbers, merc, indians. I wish I could have flattened that pile out a bit, but the construction boss would have thrown me out if I tried that.

Yeah, where did the pile of dirt with all the coins in it go? Really a bummer, for sure.

I think I know where the dirt goes but its in a locked up area. Sometimes in the summer you can find the gate left open.
