I've been using this detector for about 10 total hours now, whenever i can get out. What does noise cancel do, and how do I know when i need it? This is a fantastic machine, and I have found many clad coins in the local park, but I'm still working out the "bugs" :D

Strack,
Being a fellow Minelab owner, noise cancel will find the clearest noise free channel. I use noise cancel anytime I make a settings change, and as often as every 20 minutes when hunting high trash areas. Use it when hunting near other detectors so that you do not interfere with one another. The Minelab will pick the optimum frequency for the current conditions.

Thanks alot, I thought it helped with electonic interferance, but what you said pretty much cleared things up for me. thanks again.

Electonic interferance is also taken into account, such as powerlines, transmission antennas, etc. Soil conditions can also change in relatively short distances.
