I found this on Sunday afternoon hunting at a circa 1940 school building.
It appears to be solid copper, and the nail is also copper. Weight, measured
on my postal scale: 9.4 oz. There are two nail holes, on larger than the other.
At first I thought it was some type of eaves-trough holder, but I don't see how that would work out. Any ideas??

My guess is either part of a copper roof, or part of a lightning protection system. If the building is still in use, you might ask the building super about it, they might need it.
