I found this at the pasture where I've been hunting for the last few weeks. On the Obverse is a figure with the words D. Luiz I Rei De Portugal. Which I gather it means Dom Louis I ruler of Portugal.
On the reverse is XX Reis 1885. Which I take to mean $20.
It took a lot of cleaning to get it to this shape, it was so covered in a thick crust. By the way it's made of bronze. That's about all the short history I have on it. What was it doing in a hay field in East Texas is beyond me.

Congrats on a nice find...

Much better than the square bales that I use to load out of those hay fields.

That's cool! Love finding the odd foreign coins, where you'd never expect them.......
