I know this detector has a beach mode, but I keep hearing that the 705 chatters a lot in wet salt sand and is not usable there.

Can anyone who has used their 705 on salt water beaches chime in on this one? I realize that mineralization can vary from beach to beach, but I would like a detector I can take to the seashore (and that includes wet sand) every now and again. I don't plan on taking it into the water.

I also wonder if using the 3 kHz coil will work better on salt water beaches as the lower frequencies tend to do better there.

It sucks on wet saltwater sand. It will KILL in the dry sand however! All single frequency VLF detectors false and chatter on wet conductive saltwater sand and water. You have to lower the sensitivity so much you lose depth.

You can hunt in the wet sand but You have to lower the sensitivity a lot and it will still false on it every once in a while. If you have the ground tracking offset set on it that will help but It kills the dry sand and I use a 18.75 DD
