Who would like to hunt a WW2 training base .... yeah of course all of us. I am lucky that I have access to not only one, but two confirmed sites within an hour or two.
Today I made my way to the farther away .... have only an hour or so to work before rain and my schedule limit my day. Hit three separate barracks area, including one used as CAP building now .... moderns and trash abound. Head for the center building and see the sign says Administration ... now we are talking! Working up the sidewalk I get a 6in signal saying 75-82 ... copper penny to silver dime! Hoping for a Mercury I get the plug out and signal drops to 79 .. clad dime. My TRX settles on a tiny clump of dirt and it crumbles to show shiny metal! It's a pin "frog" .... they hold on things like rank pins and aviators wings! Here it is all cleaned up ... from 6 inches down!

During WW2 it is common to see this sterling clutches. They are commonly seen on Combat Infantrymans Badges.
