I bought a shovel from kellyco for I think 59.99 thinking it was going to be the be all end all of metal detecting shovels and make digging finds up easy. Well I was ripped off. It was a gator shovel, and it was basically !!!!. It might as well of been plastic...so I just happen to be in tru value buying some other stuff and took a look at their gardening tools and came across a 16.99 shovel that had a blade on one side and a sod cutting saw on the other side and holy !!!! is it sharp! I'd digs so easily and I was so surprised how much effort I was putting into digging before, so much I was not digging up stuff because it was past 4 inches and I just didn't want to deal with it. The shovel from tru value can cut a perfect patch and slices right through what I put it through. I'm so happy with it. So just because it's associated with metal detecting don't think it's some kind of magic shovel and DO NOT PAY MORE THAN 20 BUCKS FOR SOMETHING UNLESS YOU HAVE USED IT OR IT'S BEEN RECOMENDED BY A FRIEND. I have a pic of a similar shovel that I got I couldn't find the exact one and I'll get the name and info for you guys, but it's similar to this. But I will take a pic and put the info up for those interested I'm sure you can find it cheaper online. I just wanted to put this out there for us suckers that buy anything associated with metal detecting.

The Sampson T-handle is less than that and well liked. I have one, just haven't had occasion to use it yet.

The item you have pictured is a Fiskars tool. I did find mine however at Wal-Mart for like $8. Not bad...but it bent on me after a couple weeks. We have REALLY challenging soil in Alabama...pretty sure it would have lasted a lot longer than that otherwise. I ended up just getting recently a Lesche Digger....I also like Milhaus have the Samson T-handle serrated.

I know it sounds bad , but after years of bending garden tools and breaking handles off , I caved in and got the Letcshe digger..Best tool I ever bought..I've got a couple gators.. and while they are nice , I prefer the Letsche for my type of hinge cut and our soil. Nothing beats it. I think they have a lifetime warranty if I am not mistaken.. I don't think Letsches are too overpriced if you search to buy one online... Some companies are giving plastic diggers out with a detector purchase..What a joke..It might work on the beach , It sure wouldn't work in our soil when its dry up here. I hated buying that digger but after I got it , I bought my dad one for his birthday. That was like ten years ago , and both diggers are going strong . Some times you get what you pay for..I would like it if the Letsche would dig the dirt out a little better on a deep Target , but the it probably wouldn't cut as good as it does. Guess its a tradeoff...

I love my ball handle Sampson shovel. I just wish I hadnt waited so long to get it. After using a folding army shovel, making my own similar to the sampson, and various other cheap shovels, I finally broke down and bought the sampson. Its the perfect size, length, super sharp and strong. Ive seen them as cheap as 50$ which is well worth it in my opinion. Everyone should have one. Its like a Lesche, you will not want to use anything else after using it.

That's not what I have it's just a picture to give an idea of what it looks like. I'll get the name and take a picture of it when I get a chance but it's great. I'm sure their are many great shovels out there my point was don't get suckered into buying something just because it's associated with metal detecting.

ya can't go wrong with a lesche or sampson T handled serrated, ive got both and love them. lesche for public areas and the sampson for fields & woods, great tools

I have to agree with you guys the big K----Co has some pretty cheesy accessories I really don't get it, as a specialist company they could dominate. Why they choose to sell and or include a bunch of chines low quality items is sad . I don't want to get into (vendor bashing) but seriously there bringing it on them selves . I mean really just give me a good price and keep all the extra hyper inflated junk I don't need or would be embarrassed. to use any ways.

Here is an old saying and its very true.... "Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten"

What shovel did you purchase from us? Shoot me your order information and I will see what I can do to correct any issue.

I am in S. Florida and I have a Fiskars like you have, but purchased mine at Ollie's. It is perfect for the gras over sand soil we have here, but I could see needed something more where there is actually dirt under the grass.

I had the SAME one you have in the link from Walmart for $8! Guess what! After a few months of digging it snapped right in half!! I was PISSED! So I Got what I know works the best which is a LESH!

Just to be clear, the digger in the link above is not $59.99 we sell that digger for $10 and give it away in several packages.

If the digger broke and you got it from Kellyco, we will replace it in most cases...

Dan

If you feel that you have been ripped off by us (Kellyco), first I apologize...

Secondly, PM me with your issue and I will solve it. I am on the forums to help out but if I do not have the opportunity to fix what you feel we have done wrong, I cannot correct the problem for you or for future customers...

Please just reach out to me and I will do my best to help you out...

WRONG! The OP clearly stated that the one he bought was the "gator" model. You website very clearly shows the gator digger with a "sale" price of $57.95 !!

The link wasn't to your website, it was to True-Value and was what he bought after YOURS broke.

If it was a Gator digger that he purchased, it has a lifetime warranty and I will replace it for free... However we have several other Gator model shovels so I need to hear from the original poster what he purchased.

I can guarantee that our Gator digger is built better and stronger than the Fiskers digger that is in the link as we sell them too.

to all those who had bad luck with the Friskars, I have had mine for over a year now and put in almost 300 hours hunting with it last year, and I'm approaching 100 hours this year. Still going strong. Used it in the frozen ground last winter and it stayed strong. for $8, I'll stick with it, Even if it only last a couple years, way better than the Lesche in my opinion, and I have used a lesche before.

I will post what I bought. I'm not asking for a refund I'm just saying its not worth the money. I will pm you the model. And once again the link I posted is not the one I got at ace hardware I will also take a pic of it and the name of it. So please stop referring to th link and shovel I posted. I posted it just for a reference. I just haven't had the time to put a correct link (if I can find one) and you will see a correct picture soon. Like I said thisnismjust a post to warn new comers and even old hunters alike not just to buy something because it's on a metal detecting site or it's associated with metal detecting. Shop and ask around before you buy.
