He can not pick up a coin at all.
Has to be about 5 pounds of metal to get a response.
And then It has to be within an 1".

Poor Speedy. Does Speedy need new batteries?

No...It's not the batteries....
I've tried two new batteries from different packs
and the batteries work in my other detectors.
I opened him up got all the dirt out.
I sprayed the pot with cleaner.
I blew it out.
He still does the same thing.
Oh, well...........

throw another coil on your spanish friend and see if that fixes your problem?

I never knew the compadres coil was hard wired..hmmm learn something new every day...yeah them boys at tesoro are a helpful bunch im sure they can fix your speedy...just make sure he has a work visa or green card when ya send him off..wouldnt want to see speedy be deported
