Worked a small corner of a field of my parent's farm. Supposedly there was some old homesites in the area, but all I found were remains of plow points and disc parts that belonged to my granddaddy. Limestone ledges do that. I did find a couple nails and a square piece of steel that possibly came from one of the homes or out buildings. It was rough conditions as the field is grown up with stubble and foxtail.

Looks like your onto some old stuff, stay in the area. When stuff like that is present, usually coins aren't far behind. As you progress in the hobby, iron will become your friend (I know hard to believe) but patches of iron are usually (not always) indicative of an old settlement/gathering spot nearby. Good luck on your return trips out there!
